To another 25 Years!

May 11, 2018

Our 2018 Gala and Silent Auction was a huge success!  Thank you for spending your evening with us as we celebrated the last 25 years of Family Health Ministries and looked towards the future for women and children in Haiti.  We had a record number of supporters this year, with over 300 of you participating either in person, online, or by sponsoring the event and giving auction items.  Together, we raised over $62,000 to support the Carmelle Voltaire Women’s Health Center in Tom Gato, enough to fully fund clinic operations for one year.

We are thankful for all of our many donors and supporters. It is only through our collective work that we can bring change to Haiti. We are especially grateful to American Party Rentals, Westgate Wine, Diane Cobb, Susan Barker, and Carrie Tillman for their generous in-kind donations of goods and services. Their gifts have allowed the Annual Gala to grow into a signature event over the last 10 years.  We are also grateful to have had three of our special friends from Haiti- Annaus Frankel, Leon Dorleans and Harry Beauvais- present at the event to highlight our 25 years of work together.

In 25 years much has been accomplished including the building and functioning of two clinics, a cervical cancer screening program, a new Fondwa school after the earthquake, and a new office and guesthouse in Leogane. Many churches, organizations, and individuals have made FHM what it is today.

Hundreds of students, youth, and adults have sacrificed vacation hours and work schedules to come to Haiti and be part of what FHM refers to as “the ministry of presences.” Family Health Ministries has been built on the foundation of relationships and we have learned much from our Haitian friends over the years. They have welcomed us into their homes and they have made us part of their lives.

Family Health Ministries’ programs are funded, in large part, by small gifts from local businesses, faith organizations, and individuals like yourselves.  These grassroots donations mean that you a part of something bigger than one person, one church, or one community.  Together, we are supporting our Haitian partners in their efforts to build and sustain healthy families.

To the next 25 years! May we continue to work towards a better tomorrow for women and children in Haiti.
