VBS Team Returns from a week in Haiti

August 3, 2016

The Family Health Ministries’ Vacation Bible School team which included, Nancy and Jesse Holton, Missy Owen, and Jim Snapper, returned the end of July having spent a week in Haiti. They had a wonderful time working with 146 children for four days in partnership with staff of the Eglise Chretienne de Terre Noire as well as one day with 28 children in the Fondwa Community.

The Bible verse this year was John 14:6, Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” In Kreyol, Jan 14:6, Jezi reponn li, “Se mwen menm ki chemen an. Se mwen menm ki verite a, se mwen menm ki lavi a. Pesonn pa ka al jwenn Papa a si li pa pase nan mwen.”

The Bible stories of the week included, the prophet Gideon, the prodigal son, Daniel and the lion’s den, and David and Goliath. The day also included crafts, games, and snacks. Missy Owen said, “the main focus of VBS is to share that there is no problem too big when you remember God has your back.” An important message for all of us to remember.

Plans are already under way for next year’s trip! If you are interested in being a participant or sponsor in 2017, please contact Nancy Holton or Missy Owen at the office 919-382-5500.
