519 Hearts Haiti Race Raises $35k for New Women’s Health Center

October 6, 2014

On September 27, 2014, Family Health Ministries teamed up with 519 Church and local sponsors to offer a certified 10k/5k, and 1 mile family fun run along the beautiful American Tobacco Trail in Cary, NC. Over 430 folks came out to walk and run on this crisp Fall morning. Proceeds from event sponsorship, donations, and race registration fees raised $35,000 for FHM’s new Carmelle Voltaire Women’s Health Center in Tombe Gateau in the mountains of Haiti. Kathy Walmer, FHM Executive Director said, “Our goal was to register 350 runners and raise $10,000 in order to receive an additional $10,000 through a matching challenge grant from a private foundation. We are surprised, thrilled, and blessed by the final race results! Thank you to everyone who participated and to 519 Church for making this event such a huge success.”
