On Saturday, February 20th over 100 people attended the dedication ceremony for the Carmelle Voltaire Women’s Health Center in Tom Gato, Haiti. Supporters from Haiti, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Indiana, Kansas and Tennessee joined in on this joyous occasion.
Representatives included, Hope Community Church, Duke Global Health Institute, Building Goodness Foundation, Cross of Grace Lutheran Church, Milroy United Methodist Church, and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
Other people attending included, The Sisters of St. Antoine, Father Joseph, The Mayor of Leogane, Emmanuel Lambert, Ministry of Health representative and long-term friend, Dr. Delson Merisier, and the Haitian building crew.
FHM representives included, David and Kathy Walmer, Jamalyn Williamson, and Lauren McRaven. Music and dance was provided by the St Antoine Catholic Church Children’s Choir. Luncheon was provided by the Sisters of St Antoine.
The day was a celebration of the new women’s health clinic and the memory of Sister Carmelle Voltaire who’s life’s work will now continue through the clinic dedicated in her name.
