The Global Health PLUS (Placement of Life Changing Usable Surplus) Program, in association with Duke Global Health Institute, allowed Family Health Ministries to glean hospital equipment from inventory to use for the Carmelle Voltaire Women’s Health Center in Haiti. The mission of Duke Global Health PLUS is to make this surplus medical equipment and material from Duke University Health Systems available to health care professionals around the world with particular emphasis on medical facilities in low resource countries. On January 5, 2016, FHM’s Kathy Walmer and Missy Owen delivered a truck load of medical equipment provide by Gloval Health Plus to Building Goodness Foundation (BGF) in Charlottesville, Virginia. BGF provided an opportunity for FHM to include the medical equipment in their cargo container being shipping to Haiti this month.
