519 ♥ Haiti 5K/10K Race

A race to benefit safe motherhood in Haiti

Jump of the couch, get out your training log, and save the date for the 4th annual 519 ♥ Haiti 5K/ 10K Race. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, September 26th along the American Tobacco Trail in Apex.  Last year, we raised over $35,000 toward the construction of the Carmelle Voltaire Women’s Health Center. Now, we get a chance raise funds to complete the final touches on the building and site, to help staff the center, and to provide the resources necessary to make work there sustainable for years to come.  Construction is almost complete on the center and will begin serving women and children in October of this year. FHM will work with Midwives for Haiti to recruit trained and experienced Haitian birth attendants for the new facility. Eventually medical mission teams will travel to Haiti to serve in this clinic. “We are excited 519 Church has chosen FHM as their race partner again this year. It was a pleasure to be able to travel to Haiti last month (June 2015) with members of 519 Church on a medical mission trip and to tour them through the building in progress,” said Kathy Walmer, FHM Executive Director.
