On Saturday, April 18, Family Health Ministries (FHM) grossed over $62,000 for the Leogane Surgical Center at our Annual Gala & Silent Auction. The Gala was held at the Levin Jewish Community Center in Durham, NC to raise funds to build a surgical center in Leogane to provide lifesaving services for women and children in rural Haiti. FHM received a $50,000 challenge grant from Jean Marc DeMatteis for the event. Participants enjoyed an evening of music by E.G. Peters Band and buffet dinner by Durham Catering. The electronic silent auction, with online remote bidding hosted by BidPal®, allowed supporters to bid both onsite and remotely with their smartphones, tablets and computers. Leon Dorleans, FHM partner and prominent Haitian community leader, was one of the guest speakers, along with Dr. David Walmer, Nancy Holton, and Dr. Dennis Clements.
