Haiti sans Cervical Cancer (HsCC) is held a two-day event May 2 & 3, 2024.
(FHM is one of the co-founding organizations for HsCC)

HsCC is a consortium of partners, in Haiti and abroad, committed to working together to reduce the burden of cervical cancer in Haiti. Formed in 2015, HsCC held conferences in Port-au-Prince in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Consortium partners include Haitian medical leaders, Haitian community advocates and NGOs who support cervical cancer prevention and treatment in Haiti.

Due to the ongoing circumstances in Haiti, HsCC decided to bring the conference to North Carolina, USA, in 2024.

Despite the inability to meet in Haiti, the consortium has continued to make progress by setting up two digital histopathology laboratories, Four HPV testing labs and a REDCap screening database. Other exciting projects are underway to develop cytopathology and palliative care services in the country.

At this conference, we were able to bring together representatives of the Haitian Ministry of Health, Haitian Ob Gyn Society, the Pan American Health Organization, the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, a community group that supports the prevention and treatment of cancer in Haiti, local experts from Duke and UNC and many representatives of NGOs that are committed to reducing the burden of cervical cancer in Haiti.  Didi Bertrand Farmer made the trip to encourage the health care providers to work together and Senator Natalie Murdock made a guest appearance.  Overall, the conference was a success and we made plans to continue meeting to work on improving infrastructure, attaining access to the HPV vaccine and expanding care across Haiti.
